What has always been a little girl's first best friend? The rag doll of course. In just about any era you can picture a little girl in two pigtails, wearing a Sunday dress skipping along the sidewalk. What's that she's swinging by her side in her hand? Her handmade rag doll of course.

Follow the "rag doll" exercise with a posture aligning exercise. Take a firm stand with your feet flat on the floor, again about hip-width apart with arms by your sides. Quickly raise your arms up and across your body in a circular motion. Keep doing this until your arm are over your head. Stretch up onto your tiptoes and take a good, deep breath as you raise your arms up. Start to slowly exhale as you bring your arms back down to your sides, and return from your toes to flat feet once again. Be sure that you keep your shoulders back and your chest up as they were at the top apex of your stretch after you bring your arms down.

Why are they easier to make than traditional quilts? As mentioned earlier, expert sewing knowledge is not necessary. If you can measure fabrics and sew a straight line (or even not so straight), then you can make a rag quilt.

I personally like using at least five different fabrics to get a nice diagonal pattern going, but you can use as little as two or as many as 50. (these do make great scrap quilts to clean up the stash) The quilt above has seven different prints and just for fun I threw in a textured corduroy. For the backing you can pick anything to mixed up squares or the same fabric. I am pretty conservative and usually go with the same backing through out the quilt.

Do not forget to clean the frames, including the earpieces, when you clean your glasses. The earpieces are in contact with your skin at all times, so they build up sweat, dirt, and oil over the years as you wear your glasses. When you thoroughly wash your glasses make sure the earpieces get handmade rag doll a good cleaning as well.

Anti-bacterial sprays and products specifically designed to do a certain job are also good essential cleaning supplies to have on hand. However, just because these products are on the market doesn't mean that you should use them; especially if you already have products that get the job done. Although, a product to remove mildew and soap scum would be a specific product to have on hand.

Keep your essential cleaning supplies in one area and preferably out of reach from small children and pets. A small carrier or bucket can hold the items as well as make it convenient to carry them from room to room. Keep your supplies to a minimum as this will make choosing the right supply easier and quicker which will get the job done sooner so you can go do what you really want to do.
